In case you couldn't tell from the gasoline prices in your area, oil prices have been on the move. The chart below pretty much says it all.
As you can see, benchmark West Texas Intermediate Crude has been bubbling higher lately, and prices have now ascended into near triple-digit territory. For the record, that's an impressive 120% bounce off the lows from January 2009.
There are compelling reasons to believe these elevated prices might stick around for a while. In fact, further upside to $150 is a distinct possibility. That could act as an economic drag, siphoning money from consumers and sparking inflationary price hikes for goods and services.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Robert Rapier]
My opinion is that in this space Helmerich & Payne (NYSE: HP) looks better with respect to most metrics and pays a 3 percent dividend to boot. We recommended HP to subscribers in February, and it has returned more than 25 percent since. UNT hasn’t done too badly by comparison; it is up nearly 14 percent over the same time frame. But I would still favor HP today when I stack it up against UNT. HP’s debt is lower, its price/earnings ratio is lower, its volatility is lower, and its profit margin is higher than UNT’s.

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Dan Caplinger]
But having learned a lesson from its parent, Phillips 66 recently had great success doing a spin-off of its own, putting many of its pipeline and terminal assets into the master limited partnership Phillips 66 Partners (NYSE: PSXP ) and seeing the shares of the newly public MLP soar on their IPO day. The move has worked so well in the industry that other refiners like Valero have made plans to put their own midstream assets into MLPs in order to help investors take advantage of tax benefits that the entities enjoy compared to regular corporations.
