Advisors' Opinion:- [By WWW.DAILYFINANCE.COM]
CYNK Technology (CYNK), the mysterious over-the-counter stock that at one point broke a $6 billion market cap, dropped roughly 80 percent in its first trades after a Securities and Exchange Commission halt. The SEC halted CYNK for two weeks following a massive rise in the stock's value -- it had been worth only a few cents per share in June, but it jumped above $21 on July 10. The Belize-based CYNK Technology supposedly operates a social networking site, but filings indicate it only has one employee and virtually no assets. Experts told CNBC the week of the SEC halt that they expected CYNK to fall precipitously after reopening, and its first day of trading is proving those predictions correct. When it was halted, the stock was worth just less than $14 per share, and is now below $3 a share after briefly hovering around $5 earlier Friday morning. An OTC Markets spokeswoman told Reuters that CYNK's shares were not trading on its platform, but were occurring over the phone. Earlier this week Reuters reported that OTC's CEO did not expect CYNK to trade on its platform at all after reopening, as no brokerages would file the required paperwork for the stock to trade on their exchanges. An SEC spokesman said that the organization cannot comment on the status of a company after a suspension period ends, citing an online explanation of the process. That document notes that broker-dealers may not solicit investors to trade the previously suspended OTC stock until they satisfy several regulatory requirements. The SEC warned, however, that "unsolicited" trading may occur after a reopening -- as CYNK is now seeing -- but "even though such trading is allowed, it can be very risky for investors without current and reliable information about the company."

My brother is one of the lucky individuals beta-testing the new Google (NASDAQ: GOOG ) product Google Glass. I think they look a little ridiculous (even if they are wicked cool to play with), but I have not been too concerned with prime light-hogging wearable computing. Instead, I have been watching the tech giant quietly increase its investment in renewable energy. I would even argue that some of the technologies coming out of Google X have larger potential than Glass for shareholders and consumers alike.

Only on Wall Street can a company like Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN ) beat expectations, only to see its shares crater 7.2% afterwards. The bearish tone came on fears that the online retail giant's slowing sales growth spells a not-so-rosy future. The trend is hard to deny: Sales rose 22% in the most recent period, compared with a 34% surge in the same period a year ago.

Patrick T. Fallon/Bloomberg via Getty Images College students use Apple (AAPL), Facebook (FB) and Google (GOOG) products every day, so it's not much of a surprise that those companies are high on their lists of potential employers. But a new survey also shows Boeing (BA), the National Institutes of Health and Disney (DIS) at the top. The annual survey by Universum, an international consulting and brand marketing firm, asked 50,000 students for their top choices -- undergraduates in business, engineering, computer sciences, natural sciences and humanities plus those working on their master's of business administration. Google placed first in three categories and in the top six in all of them. "It is perception-based, so a lot of these companies have really strong brand recognition," said Kortney Kutsop, senior account director at Universum. "We're trying to understand what makes students tick, what they're looking for in a career." Government Agencies Do Well Students were given 230 potential employers to choose from. NASA, the Department of Energy, the CIA, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Defense Department, the FBI and the Air Force all ranked in the top 40 for engineering students. Kutsop says this is partly because of the desire among students to "give back and be part of the greater good." Oil and gas companies have also climbed in the rankings among engineering students. Exxon Mobil (XOM) came in No. 6, while Shell Oil (RDS-A), Chevron (CVX) and BP (BP) all made the top 25. "This generation is looking for employers that provide development, training and mentorship," said Kutsop. "They want to become leaders of the world." She says they also want jobs that offer some flexibility, work-life balance and job security. She says there's a perception about millennials that they like to change jobs frequently, but in fact many are seeking job security. "They may stay if they see the opportunity to grow and advance." Potential employers are working h

Some of these large companies like Facebook and Amazon.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) will also confront the law of large numbers that inevitably limits their growth. Their growth rates inevitably slow. For example, this is something that investors in growing, well-known companies like Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) are also going to learn, to their disappointment.

A couple months ago when hedge fund celebrity David Einhorn was making a media blitz to sell his "iPref" idea to Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL ) , he made an interesting comparison to Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN ) . What's coming
Moreover, more tax increases look likely to hit ordinary Americans in the near future. Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN ) has been making agreements with an increasing number of states to collect sales tax on online purchases, and a federal law could subject Amazon, eBay (NASDAQ: EBAY ) , and other online sellers with the obligation to collect taxes. That has helped Best Buy (NYSE: BBY ) and other competing brick-and-mortar retailers, but it means consumers pay more in overall tax. Technically, most taxpayers already owe uncollected sales taxes to their respective states, but few states enforce those provisions vigorously. With state and local sales taxes representing 12 days' worth of the average American's tax burden, increases would have a small but significant impact on many people. - [By WWW.DAILYFINANCE.COM]
Casey Rodgers/Invision for History/AP My anniversary is coming up soon. And I've stalked my wife on Pinterest looking for gift ideas. Pinterest is the perfect place to find gift ideas for us clueless guys. And I've found the perfect gift. The problem is that it's expensive. Even eBay (EBAY) is pricey for the designer sunglasses that she wants. Then a brilliant idea hit me: I should ask the seller on eBay for a discount. The online retailing giant opened a proverbial can of worms when it started allowing sellers to add the "or best offer" option to auction listings. Even though this listing didn't allow for haggling from its "buy it now" option, I thought I would try anyway. So I emailed the seller, asking if the listing price on eBay was the best it could offer. I had nothing to lose. The worst thing it could tell me was no. And the seller had already beaten the best price I could find elsewhere by more than 10 percent. I was pleasantly surprised when the retailer lowered the price by an additional 15 percent and threw in free shipping. This made me wonder how many other opportunities for discounts I was missing. All it takes is a little creativity and negotiation skills. Here are a few ideas. Retail Stores Are Tough to Negotiate with for Customers My friends gave me a crash course in bartering when I traveled to Mexico in college: If a store has air conditioning, the retailer freezes its prices as well. It's hard to negotiate with retail stores. They have a lot of overhead and often price their wares in order to earn a specific profit margin. But it isn't impossible to negotiate. One of the best ways that you can open the conversation is to simply ask, "Is that the best price you can do?" This is a very powerful question. Retailers may surprise you by offering you a discount simply by asking for it. Call About Cable, Phone and Internet Service Cable and satellite TV providers are notorious for offering deep discounts and freebies when you initially si

A new federal law is being debated that would allow states to force Internet retailers to collect sales taxes. Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN ) supports the bill, whileeBay (NASDAQ: EBAY ) wants it changed.
