U.S. auto sales surged in May, confirming that the cold winter had more to do with damping demand earlier this year than a dip in consumer confidence.

General Motors�Co., the largest U.S. auto seller, said its sales jumped 13% to 284,694, easily topping expectations as the company contends with the fallout from a steady flow of recalls over safety concerns…Toyota Motor�Corp. (TM) and Chrysler Group LLC posted 17% unit sales gains,�Nissan Motor’s (NSANY) rose 19% and�Honda Motor’s (HMC) rose 9%, all compared with a year earlier. Some companies were still counting and a final industry tally for the month is expected later on Tuesday…Ford Motor�Co. said sales rose 3% as the company tried to maintain inventory on its F-150 pickup trucks and cut incentives.

    From a technical perspective, ROIAK ripped higher here back above its 50-day moving average of $2.27 with above-average volume. This stock recently formed a triple bottom chart pattern at $2.10, $2.11 and $2.07. Following that bottom, shares of ROIAK have started bounce sharply higher and move within range of triggering a major breakout trade. That trade will hit if ROIAK can manage to take out some near-term overhead resistance levels at $2.46 to its 52-week high at $2.66 with high volume.

    Traders should now look for long-biased trades in ROIAK as long as it's trending above some near-term support levels at $2.10 to $2.07 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 112,595 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then ROIAK will set up to enter new 52-week-high territory above $2.66, which is bullish technical price action. Some possible upside targets off that breakout are $3 to $4.

Jackups

As of December 31, 2011, the Company had 49 jackups in its fleet, including six jackups under construction. The rig hull includes the drilling rig, jacking system, crew quarters, loading and unloading facilities, storage areas for bulk and liquid materials, helicopter landing deck and other related equipment. All of its jackups are independent leg and cantilevered. Its jackups are capable of drilling to a maximum depth of 30,000 feet in water depths up to 400 feet.

Submersibles

The Company has two su! bmersible! s in the fleet, which are cold-stacked. Submersibles are mobile drilling platforms, which are towed to the drill site and submerged to drilling position by flooding the lower hull until it rests on the sea floor, with the upper deck above the water surface. Its submersibles are capable of drilling to a depth of 25,000 feet in water depths up to 70 feet.
