Top 5 Promising Companies To Invest In Right Now

For most of its history, Southwest Airlines (ticker: LUV) has been an aggressive growth company. It terrorized legacy carriers like Delta Air Lines (DAL) and United Continental (UAL) by constantly pushing further into their turf.

With lower costs and friendly service, Southwest had a lot going for it. However, today Southwest faces tougher competition. As a result, it's looking to retrench to boost its earnings. Southwest's management has stated on multiple occasions that it will hold capacity roughly flat in 2014 in order to focus on completing the integration of its AirTran subsidiary.

As part of that plan, the company recently announced that it will pull out of three smaller markets: Jackson, Miss., Branson Mo., and Key West, Fla. This will free up capacity for more promising markets with plenty of passenger traffic, like New York.

Performant Financial (PFMT) provides technology-enabled recovery and related analytics services in the U.S. This stock closed up 6.9% at $11.84 in Friday's trading session.

    Friday's Volume: 310,000

    Three-Month Average Volume: 261,916

    Volume % Change: 60%

From a technical perspective, PFMT soared higher here right off both its 200-day moving average of $11.02 and its 50-day moving average at $11.06 with decent upside volume. This move is quickly pushing shares of PFMT within range of triggering a major breakout trade. That trade will hit if PFMT manages to take out some near-term overhead resistance levels at $12.47 to $13.26 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in PFMT as long as it's trending above its 200-day at $11.02 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that's near or above 261,916 shares. If that breakout hits soon, then PFMT will set up to re-test or possibly take out its all-time high at $14.09. Any high-volume move above $14.09 will then give PFMT a chance to trend north of $15.

On Tuesday, small cap biotech stock Kythera Biopharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: KYTH) surged around 25% after announcing that its ATX-101 REFINE-1 and REFINE-2 Phase III trials met all primary and secondary endpoints for the reduction of so-called double chins; but if investors missed out on that rally, small caps Zeltiq Aesthetics Inc (NASDAQ: ZLTQ), Solta Medical Inc (NASDAQ: SLTM) and Cynosure, Inc (NASDAQ: CYNO) each have a piece of the aesthetic market as well. In the case of Kythera Biopharmaceuticals, its ATX-101 can be injected to deal with double chinsmeaning its less invasive than liposuction as the drug dissolves fat cells but leaves other tissue alone. Large cap serial acquirerValeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc (NYSE: VRX) is teaming up with activist investorBill Ackman to pursue large cap Botox maker Allergan, Inc (NYSE: AGN), but stocks like Cutera, Inc (NASDAQ: CUTR), Cynosure, Inc (NASDAQ: CYNO), PhotoMedex Inc (NASDAQ: PHMD) and Syneron Medical Ltd (NASDAQ: ELOS)actually offer investors more exposure to the growing anti aging and aesthetics market (Note: See my recent article: These Small Caps Seek to Treat Your Crow Feet and Double Chin (RVNC & KYTH)). To begin with, Valeant Pharmaceuticals International has a wide focus on neurology, dermatology and infectious diseasesbut acquiring the maker of Botox won be its first foray into the aesthetic marketbecause earlier this year, the company completed its acquisition of Solta Medical Inc (NASDAQ: SLTM) -a designer, developer, manufacturer and marketer ofenergy-based medical device systems for aesthetic applications. And whileAllergan, Inc may be most well known for Botox, its actually a pretty bigcompany focused on a diverse range of areas, including ophthalmic pharmaceuticals, dermatology, neuroscience, urology and cosmeticsmeaning the following stocks offer investors better exposure to the aesthetics market:

On January 10, 2012, it acquired certain oil and gas leaseholds, overriding royalty interests and producing properties located in North Dakota. Advisors' Opinion:

For the full-year 2012, it cost Suncor an average of $67.23 to produce a barrel of oil, which it sold for an average of $82.60 per barrel, which comes out to an operating margin of just under 19%. By comparison, Kodiak Oil & Gas (NYSE: KOG  ) , an exploration and production company with operations focused primarily in North Dakota's Bakken Shale, reported a trailing-12-month operating margin of 43.5%more than twice Suncor's margin.

Baker Hughes' most recent rig count shows U.S. onshore rigs are down by almost 200 year over year. So overall, theindustryis making big strides in efficiency. Some of the most tangible evidence of this, though, is in the Bakken Region. In 2013, Kodiak Oil & Gas (NYSE: KOG  ) is on track to drill more wells than last year, while at the same time spending $35 million less in capital expenditures to do so.

    Financials

Kodiak's production growth has been exceptional over the last few years. The company had production growth of close to 100% for the last year. At the end of 2011, Kodiak had $120 million in revenues, which has gone up to $905 million by the end of the last year - this represents an average annual growth rate of over 200%, exceptionally strong for an oil and gas company. Over the same time period, the stock price has only gone up by 78%. Furthermore, the company has an operating margin of over 38% and net margin of over 15%.

Continued growth can also be seen in KOG registering Q1 oil & gas sales of $257M despite facing very harsh weather conditions & ongoing effects of a Crimea standoff. Oil & gas sales for this quarter represented a 56 percent growth, up from $165.1M reported in the Q1 of 2013. The adjusted EBITDA was one more impressive performer in the quarter and registers earnings of $179.9M in comparison to $124.4M that were reported in the Q1 of 2013.

Kodiak completed the total of 20 gross operated-wells in the Q1 & completed an additional 26 gross non-operated wells. The drilling operations are now expected to continue in this year as it plans on continuing with its non-operated activities. Well-drilling in the quarter had been heavily impacted by the reduction in its drilling costs. In the quarter, KOG invested a total of $208.6M related to the oilfield operations & leasehold operations. This was a little lower in comparison to its previous guidance of approximately $940M.

Speaking of leaders in the E&P names, we also want to point out the strength at Kodiak Oil & Gas (KOG) and Chesapeake Energy (CHK). Kodiak has quietly been moving higher and broke above $10/share on Friday with decent volume. The company continues to build upon their successes in the Bakken and it is still our belief that the company will ultimately get taken over because of their success. The company has a rich valuation but we continue to see costs fall as drilling techniques are standardized and the company gets to do more 'infill' drilling as opposed to exploration drilling to lock in leased land via held-by-production rights. Remember, as more infrastructure is built to take production out of the Bakken we will see transportation prices decline further (see article from above for more on this) and should see realized prices for that production increase as well. One should continue to be bullish here.

Top 5 Promising Companies To Invest In Right Now: HyperSolar Inc (HYSR)

Hypersolar, Inc., incorporated on February 18, 2009, is developing renewable hydrogen using sunlight and any source of water, including seawater and wastewater. Unlike hydrocarbon fuels, such as oil, coal and natural gas, where carbon dioxide and other contaminants are released into the atmosphere when used, hydrogen fuel usage produces pure water as the only byproduct. The Company technology includes HyperSolar H2Generator. Its nano-size particle is designed to mimic photosynthesis and contains a solar absorber that generates electrons from sunlight, as well as integrated cathode and anode areas to readily split water and transfer those electrons to the molecular bonds of hydrogen.

The HyperSolar H2Generator consists of the following primary stages: Reactor Vessels, Hydrogen Compressor and Hydrogen Storage. The reactor vessels resemble transparent rectangular boxes containing water and billions of nanoparticles suspended in solution. When exposed to sunlight, hydrogen gas will bubble up into an air gap on top for separation and collection. Produced hydrogen gas will be compressed for space efficient storage. Hydrogen can be stored in compressed gas tanks or chemical canisters depending on the application. The HyperSolar H2Generator will be a self-contained renewable hydrogen production system that requires only sunlight and any source of water.

The Company competes with Air Products and Chemicals Inc. and Air Liquide.

Advisors' Opinion:

Small cap hydrogen fuel stocks Hydrogenics Corporation (NASDAQ: HYGS), FuelCell Energy Inc (NASDAQ: FCEL), HyperSolar Inc (OTCMKTS: HYSR) and HydroPhi Technologies Group, Inc (OTCMKTS: HPTG) are some of the lesser known small caps that areworking with hydrogen fuel or hydrogen fuel cell related technology. I should say that small cap hydrogen stocks are not for risk adverse investors as there are considerable unanswered questions about hydrogen fuel related technology and whether it can be a viable green technology given the fueling infrastructure needed along with theenergy and expense involved in creating hydrogen(Note: None of these small capstocks are profitable at ). But any new technology will pose the same types of risks for early stage investorsespecially if its so-called green technology.
